How to Split a Batch in Sage MAS 500

We’ve heard stories from clients where they have deleted transactions from batches because they were not ready to process them. Well, there is no need to delete them. We suggest moving them from one batch to another and placing it on hold. You can do this using the Split Batch function.

Depending on where you access this task in Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable, you can:

  • Select vouchers from the current Accounts Payable batch and move (or push) the vouchers into another existing (destination), or new batch.
  • Select Shipments to select invoices (or credit memos) from the Sales Order System batch and move (or pull) them into the current Accounts Receivable batch. If a payment was entered and/or applied to an order for this invoice during sales order entry, the pending cash receipt and/or payment application remain assigned to the invoice.
  • Select pending cash receipts entered during sales order entry into the current Accounts Receivable cash receipts batch.
I will demonstrate below how to use the Split Batch function. For our example, we will use Accounts Payable Process Vouchers. As you can see, we have a batch with three invoices. We want to move one invoice from this batch into a new batch. To start, right-click on the batch number and Select Split Batch.

The following window will appear. Here we will select the option to Create New Batch or we could have used an existing batch. Next let’s select the transactions we want to move out of the current batch and select the Proceed   button. This will create a new batch with the transaction selected and the original batch will now only have two invoices in it.

I hope this article helps with how to move transactions from batch to batch in MAS 500.
