Security Hints for Identifying a Task Description with the Task Name in Sage MAS 500
One of the biggest challenges in Sage MAS 500 is assigning security. The reason for this is that there are no documents that identify the task descriptions with the task names. Below is a workaround to identify the two challenges.
Let’s say you are the Accounts Receivable Manager and you need access to print Sales Tax Reports. How would you grant this access to security group ARMgr? The module you would probably look under is AR, but you won’t find it there. The example below will show how to find the security task:
- Locate the Sales Tax Report task on the Task Explore Bar.

- Right click on the task and select Properties.

- The Properties window will display the Module, Sage MAS 500 Task (this is what you see in Maintain Security Groups), and the Name (this is what you see in the Task Explore Bar).

- Open the Maintain Security Groups task and select the ARMgr security group.

- Select Module ID CI, scroll down to the Sales Tax Report – AR task and change the permissions to Normal.

I hope this article has helped to unravel the mysteries of assigning security in Sage MAS 500.
