We’re thrilled to announce the latest software release of FoodBusiness ERP, powered by Sage X3 and delivered by NexTec Group. FoodBusiness ERP 2026 R1 delivers a broad range of advanced payment processing capabilities to the pain out of managing payments. In this article, Jeff Law, Director of Product Management and R&D provides a quick overview of the key features and functionality in the latest release. These new features are also included in our CannaBusiness ERP solution and our suite of NexTec Advanced Solutions for Sage X3.
New Payments Functionality
Our advanced payment processing features, ACH and EFT, are the most widely adopted features in the NexTec Sage X3 product family. These reliable, out-of-the-box payment solutions provide high ROI by streamlining the payment process. The new payment features in 2026 R1 are designed to simplify and speed up the payment experience from beginning to end with a focus on:
- Organization Alignment – AP versus AR
- Ease of Configuration
- Processing / File Generation
- Greater Visibility with the Ability to Correct Exceptions and Errors
- Security and Auditing
- Simplified Implementation
- Ease of Migration for Existing Customers
Below, we dig into the newly designed payments functionality in more detail.
Organization Alignment
The NexTec ACH and EFT payment functionality supports the electronic banking and common file formats required in the United States and Canada. The latest software release simplifies user roles and security configuration by allowing teams to manage payments using four key features that align with the most common organizational structure:
- ACH Payments
- ACH Pre-authorized Debits
- EFT Payments
- EFT Pre-authorized Debits
This structure gives each team clear ownership of their payment processes and simplifies security configuration.
Configuration
The configuration of payments functionality has been organized into separate groups and functions aligned to each payment type. This applies to NexTec-provided functions, not standard Sage X3 functions such as Payment Types and Payment Attributes. The primary benefit is clarity around role differences, making it straightforward for organizations to lock down configuration access. The following are now provided for each payment type:
- General Parameter Subgroups
- Business Partner (BP) Setup
- Bank File Setup (by type)
- Bank File Template
- Workflow Template
- Processing / File Generation
Each payment type now has a dedicated function for generating ACH and EFT files.
New Payment Processing Workbenches
This new workbench functionality improves the customer payment experience by keeping users informed and in control when it comes to managing exceptions and errors. Users can now drill down on specific files and their content to pinpoint any exceptions. They can also utilize the new workbenches to manage recipients and resend payment notification emails.
New payments processing workbenches have been created to provide ACH and EFT payment file summaries and drill-down detail in a user-friendly format:
- File Summary
- Business Partner Summary (drill-down)
- Workflow Recipients
- Remittance / Payment (drill-down)
Our workbenches provide greater visibility and traceability, while allowing authorized users to quickly take action to manage any anomalies and exceptions, such as:
- File Regeneration
- Recipient Override
- Resend Email / Payment Notification
- Reprint Payment Notification
While exceptions are infrequent, they can be disruptive and time-consuming. Our workbenches are purpose-built tools to address the most common scenarios.
New Pre-Authorized Debit Notification Workbenches
To streamline the remittance process and enhance customer communication, FoodBusiness ERP 2026 R1 introduces new workbench functionality and workflows for managing ACH and EFT pre-authorized debit (PAD) notifications. These workbenches can be used to view the status of PAD notifications, resend notifications, and drill into remittance details. Additionally, the ACH and EFT notification workbenches highlight bank and BP setup issues and provide tools for quickly and easily correcting the configuration.
Security and Auditing
The NexTec payment features allow customers to adhere to best practices for security. Sage X3 provides robust security tools that allow control by function, button, or row level/field access. Most organizations avoid field-level security as it can be complicated to set up and maintain. This is why we have taken the time to provide unique functions for configuration, processing, and visibility. We want our customers to have secure role-based functionality without complexity:
Functional Profiles – Unique configuration, processing, and visibility functions allow security without requiring a row-level security scheme.
E-Signatures – Our e-signature auditing capability has been enhanced and expanded with new options to enable payment Business Partner setup and payment bank information auditing. Once active, you can track changes to the BP and bank setup for ACH and EFT payment processing.
Business Partner Maintenance – Dedicated setup functions make it easier than ever to secure BP records and prevent viewing and modifications by unauthorized users.
Data Obfuscation – The obfuscation of data at rest is now a mandatory feature to safeguard business partner banking information and bank account payment details.
Easy Implementation and Migration
FoodBusiness ERP 2026 R1 brings improvements to help both new and existing customers get up and running quickly and efficiently.
Implementation
The implementation of the new payment functionality is designed to be a simple, one-time setup process. There are no changes to the data configured using Sage X3 AP / AR functions. Visit our online help portal for a step-by-step guide.
Migration for Existing Customers
For customers currently using our payment solutions, great care has been taken to avoid disruption with the release of the new payment functionality. Parameters, BP configuration, and processing functions are not shared. This allows it to be installed and configured for use with no impact on the current set up and business process. When a customer is ready to implement, utilities are available to assist with the setup of business partners and parameters.
Summing Up
FoodBusiness ERP 2026 R1 provides the advanced tools you need to manage and optimize payments. The new payment features are designed to address the real-world operational challenges that food and beverage manufacturers face every day.
