VetCare Canada acquires and operates veterinary practices, helping owners who are ready to transition out. The company operates multiple locations and was growing rapidly when it began its search to replace its legacy Microsoft Dynamics GP solution. To scale efficiently and keep up with demand, VetCare sought an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that would support its multi-entity operation.

A comprehensive search led the company to NexTec Group and Acumatica Cloud ERP.

The Challenge

Prior to going live on Acumatica, the team at VetCare was struggling to keep up with its growth using an accounting software solution built on Dynamics GP. “We needed a complete technology solution that would support our entire operation and scale with us as we grow,” says Julien Gilbert, Corporate Controller for VetCare.

The company engaged a large consulting firm to assist with the ERP selection process and identified five viable ERP solutions for VetCare. “We seriously considered all five,” says Gilbert, “but ultimately we chose Acumatica.”

The Solution

For the VetCare team, the decision to go with Acumatica was easy. “Acumatica offers the broad functionality we wanted in a single solution, including strong intercompany functionality, automatic balancing entries and the ability to integrate with our practice management software,” says Gilbert.

On top of Acumatica’s superior functionality over its competitors, VetCare also attributes much of its success to NexTec’s consulting services and implementation methodology. During implementation, NexTec was able to migrate all of VetCare’s historical data into Acumatica with no down time. Since go-live, NexTec has worked with VetCare to implement best practices and ensure continued growth and success.

“We’re still testing and tweaking our processes to fit our growth model,” says Gilbert. “NexTec is an asset to us as we mature. Their consultants are very knowledgeable and very supportive. They’re committed to helping us get the most value out of Acumatica.”

The Benefits

With Acumatica, VetCare has been able to simplify the accounting and operations of its 35 separate legal entities. “We’re able to perform complex rollups quickly, easily record transactions between companies and perform consolidations based on regions or other attributes,” says Gilbert.

VetCare has also been able to:
